Dear members and friends of CUMC,
In light of the coronavirus which has gripped our country, it has become necessary to take measures that are proactive to help stop the spread before it reaches an unsustainable level. This week we were asked by our government and the CDC to not meet in groups over 10 people for the next 15 days. Because of this, the following steps will be taken:
- Christ UMC will cancel all worship services, events, meetings, and studies until further notice. As the situation progresses, we will assess the situation to see if further cancellations will be necessary. Check for updates on our Christ United Methodist Facebook page and the local radio station. During this time, we will be recording a mini worship service that we hope to have available on the church website by Sunday mornings. They will consist of some special music, prayers, and a sermon. These services can be found here. The office will remain open for phone calls from 8-3 (Monday-Friday). I will also be available for any pastoral needs during this time. Please call.
- Officials urge us to maintain physical distance from one another during this crucial time. However, we can still engage in social closeness through phone calls, social media, emails, cards, etc. We can also practice spiritual closeness by praying for one another and listening to the recorded services. If you have prayer needs to share, please contact Vickie Lyons or the church office to have them put on the email prayer chain. We have volunteers who would love to help anyone who is unable to shop or run necessary errands. Please call the church office at (740) 435-1060 for assistance. Let’s take care of one another until we can gather again.
- Finally, the financial needs of the church continue whether or not we are in worship. Our missons, ministries, and fixed expenses will still need to be supported. Therefore, we urge you to mail your tithes and offerings to
2167 North Ave, Cambridge, OH 43725 so that the finances of the church do not suffer during this period of cancellation.
We pray that this unprecedented situation will not deter you from loving God and loving one another. There is a lot of fear out there which leads people to selfish behavior. The antidote for fear is faith. Jesus promises, “I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20). Jesus commands us to love our neighbor, and that love will go a long way to heal a frightened and hurting world. We will make it through this together!!!
If you have any question about any of the above, please contact me.
Love and blessings,
Pastor Randy & Candy
Welcome to Christ United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Ohio! Our Purpose is to love the Lord, Love one another, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a Wesleyan Covenant Community who believes that the scriptures are God-breathed and that His Word is true.
We believe “church” is an action word, not a building. We gather each week to praise God, be filled with His Holy Spirit, and then receive His plan to do “church” the coming week.
We invite you to join us for a relaxed, spirit-filled worship experience each Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m. Our services are God-centered and joyful as we praise our risen Savior. Our gifted singers and musicians help usher in the Holy Spirit. Our children (ages 4-10) are gathered for a message of encouragement before departing for their own Junior Church class. The sacred Word of God is preached in a style that is understood and relatable to our daily lives. Our experience closes with a call to prayer as we commit ourselves to live out His Word.
Our toddlers and children are of the utmost importance to the life of the church. Our nursery and Junior Church volunteers are background checked and follow strict security measures to provide a safe environment for your child.
Please take a moment to explore the many ministry opportunities Christ UMC has to offer.
Have a blessed day!
See you next Sunday!
